Quick Pickled Red Onions

Pickled red onions are a simple yet flavorful addition to many dishes and making them at home requires just 4 ingredients: red onions, vinegar, sugar, and salt.

These tangy, sweet pickled onions can elevate tacos, salads, sandwiches, or even serve as a vibrant garnish for various dishes.

Quick Pickled Red Onions

Ingredients

  • 1 large red onion thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup Red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup boiling filtered water
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup honey optional

Instructions

  • Slice onions then add to a clean 24 oz mason jar.
  • Add vinegar honey (if using) and salt.
  • Heat water in a pan over stove or in a kettle until boiling. Pour the boiling water over the onions, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  • Put the lid on the jar and give it a little shake to ensure everything is well combined.
  • Let sit for an hour on the counter before putting in the fridge.
