DIY Produce Wash

Should I clean my produce before I put it away in the fridge? YES!

This safe produce wash is a great way to keep your produce a little less toxic! Not all produce is likely to be loaded with nasties but that's why its best to opt for organic if necessary. Some pesticides can seep inside the produce itself and no amount of washing can tackle that! This typically happens with more porous fruits and veggies. Whether or not you choose organic, washing your produce first is important to maintaining your health and limiting your exposure to toxins, pesticides + bacteria šŸ¦  lingering on the outside that could otherwise negatively effect your health!

The Environmental Working Group (EWG), concludes evidence of pesticides or contamination in a lot of the non organic produce tested and other produce which had high numbers.

For instance, roughly 20% of the strawberries šŸ“contained 10+ pesticides. Some of these include carbendazim (a probable hormone disruptor, esp for males) and bifenthrin (a possible carcinogen) . You can learn more about shopping organic on a budget and how to follow the organic shopper's guide in my blog post Dirty Dozen list.
