Garlicky Mashed Rutabaga


Variety is the spice of life and its an important way to make sure your getting all the nutrients you need so that you are getting bored of your food. These garlicky mashed rutabaga is everything especially around the fall time. Rutabaga is a root vegetable and is inexpensive, healthful and easy to prepare.





Its an excellent source of fiber and soluble dietary fiver that helps soak up LDL cholesterol. Rutabaga contains beta carotene which converts to vitamin A in the body and also aids in healthy vision, bone growth, reproduction and cell function.




Can you believe this garlicky mashed rutabaga promotes a healthy immune system it has TONS of immune booster, antiviral and anti fungal properties. When I was on the candida diet I read about rutabaga and that is where I fell in love with it.





Here is my favorite way to cook it:




  1. Peel rutabaga and chop
  2. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil.
  3. Add the rutabaga to teh water and let cook for 30 minutes or until fork tender
  4. Drain and place rutabga in a large bowl and add all the ingredients.
  5. Mash until all large lumps are gone. Add salt and pepper to taste




Then all you need to do is add your




  • Non-dairy milk of choice
  • grass fed butter/ ghee
  • garlic powder
  • salt and pepper
  • and Mash

Mashed Rutabaga



Ingredients
  • 1 medium rutabaga
  • 2 tbsp grass fed butter
  • 2 tbsp coconut milk
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • seasonings of choice
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
  1. Peel rutabaga and chop into 1 inch pieces

  2. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil.

  3. Add the rutabaga to the water and let cook for 30 minutes or until fork tender

  4. Drain and place rutabaga in a large bowl and add all the ingredients.

  5. Mash until all large lumps are gone. Add salt and pepper to taste.
